Anime Origins Story Mode Walkthrough
Clear chapters for XP and materials, keep a farm slot, and stop pushing when upgrades fall behind the boss.
Story Mode is the spine of Anime Origins after the 14 August 2026 launch. It teaches the path, levels the account to the Codes unlock, and drops the first evolution materials. Infinite and Raids exist. They do not replace Story as the place you learn whether a team actually works.
This page is a pacing walkthrough, not a spoiler script of every chapter name. Origins Project can retune maps. The decisions stay the same: place a farm, spend cash on time, and stop climbing when the boss is eating placements you cannot replace.
What Story is for
Story is XP, materials, and a controlled wave count. You should be able to name the goal of a session before you queue: hit Level 10, finish a material set, or prove a new carry. If the goal is “see the next map,” you will overspend Gems after a wipe and call it progression.
Online friends make Story cleaner. A second player can hold a second lane or cover the boss with a coffin or a slow. Private servers are free, so you do not need a public crowd. A quiet duo learns placement faster than a 22-player pile where nobody knows who owns the farm tile.
Pacing and the farm slot
Every Story clear wants a farm slot. Bluma (Data Analyst) is the clean version: she sits where allies get kills, banks Training Data, and pays bonus income at the start of the next wave. Leorio is the Epic substitute with a chance to refund upgrade cash. If you have neither, your “farm” is discipline — fewer early placements, more upgrades on the one unit that is actually killing.
Place the farm early, then the carry, then fillers. Filling the board on wave 2 looks busy and starves wave 8. Cash is in-match only. It does not roll into the next chapter. Spend it on upgrades that kill the current boss, not on a museum of Epics along a wall.
Copy a lane from Team Builds if you do not want to invent one. A beginner build with one damage name and one income name will clear more chapters than a Secret you never upgrade because you also placed four Legendaries.
When to stop pushing
Stop when any of these are true.
The boss reaches the base while your carry is still mid-upgrade. That is an income problem or a placement problem, not a “need the next Secret” problem. Replay the chapter, place fewer units, and upgrade the one that hits the boss.
You won, but every upgrade was a panic click in the last two waves. That chapter taught you nothing you can repeat. Farm it once or twice more until the last waves feel boring. Boring is the signal that you can climb.
The evolve panel is waiting on a boss drop from the chapter you just beat. Stay. Pushing two maps further while the material sits behind you is how accounts wander.
You hit Level 10 and have not redeemed codes. Leave Story, claim the strings, summon with a budget, then come back. Story after codes is a different game than Story before codes.
Playing with people
Invite friends into a private server and assign jobs out loud: who places the farm, who owns the boss, who holds the back path. Anime Origins is online co-op, not a silent single-player campaign that happens to allow extras. If three people all drop a farm unit, income still caps and the lane is worse.
If you join a public Story lobby, watch the first two waves before you dump your whole bar. Someone else may already have Bluma down. Add damage or a slow. Goju’s Infinity Expansion is a gift in a messy public lane because enemies that linger get slowed even if the placements are ugly.
Do not use Story as a trait-reroll laboratory. Traits are a hub NPC. Wipe, leave, roll, requeue. Mid-match tilting into Areas wastes the chapter and the token.
How Story feeds the other modes
A Story team that clears without panic is the team you take to Infinite Mode. Infinite adds wave count and asks whether income still works when the script never ends. If Story already feels broke, Infinite will feel cruel.
Raids ask for the same placements under a tighter boss script. Use Story to finish the first evolution, then raid for the rare parts. Do not raid underleveled because a friend said the chest looked good. A failed Raid is a long walk for no materials.
WASD still only moves you around the map. The chapter is won with Left Mouse Button and a farm slot. If you are running in circles during a boss, you are not placing. Stand still and upgrade.
A chapter loop you can repeat
Queue the current chapter. Place farm, then carry. Upgrade carry first unless the farm is about to miss a Training Data checkpoint that you can still reach. After the boss, check the evolve panel and the Level 10 flag. If both are quiet and the last waves were calm, climb one chapter. If either is loud, stay or leave for codes.
That loop is the whole walkthrough. Maps will change. The stop rules should not. Players who ignore them spend launch Gems on a third Secret and still lose the same boss because nobody placed Bluma.
When a friend asks “are we pushing?” the correct answer is a check of cash leftover at the boss, not a vibe. If you had cash left and the boss died early, push. If you were broke and the base was blinking, farm the same map until that sentence flips. Story Mode rewards the player who can get bored on purpose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Should I play Story Mode or Infinite first?
Story first. It unlocks Level 10 codes, teaches the path, and drops early materials. Infinite is a sustain test after Story already feels stable.
Do I need a farm unit in Story?
Yes, or the discipline of one. Bluma is the clean income slot. Leorio is the Epic backup. A board full of damage with no income dies on later chapters.
When should I stop climbing Story chapters?
Stop when the boss outruns your upgrades, when a material you need drops on the current map, or when you hit Level 10 and still have codes unclaimed.
Can I clear Story with friends?
Yes. Online co-op is live and private servers are free. Assign a farm, a carry, and a boss job so three people do not all place the same unit.
Does Story drop evolution materials?
Yes. Story clears and Story bosses are a primary material source. Raids exist for the rarer parts once you know which unit you are evolving.
