Anime Origins Controls
Move, jump, place units, and open Codes or Areas without hunting a hidden keybind.
Anime Origins is a mouse-first Roblox tower defense. You spend most of a match placing units, selecting them again to upgrade, and watching the path. Movement exists so you can walk to an NPC, rotate around a lane, or leave a crowded hub. If a placement fails, the problem is almost never a missing hotkey. It is pathing, a placement limit, or not enough in-match cash.
This page is the dedicated control sheet. The first-hour loop still lives on Getting Started. Codes still live on the Codes Hub. Trait rerolls still start from the Areas button described here, then finish on How to Reroll Traits.
Keyboard and mouse
Origins Project published a short bind list with the 14 August 2026 launch. It has not grown since.
| Action | Input |
|---|---|
| Move | W A S D |
| Jump | Space |
| Select or place a unit | Left Mouse Button |
WASD walks your avatar in the hub and during a match. You do not kite enemies with the character. Enemies follow the lane. Your job is to stand where you can see tiles and the HUD.
Space jumps. Use it in the hub when a vendor sits on a raised pad, or when you need to hop a rail to reach the Trait Reroll NPC after you pick Trait Reroll from Areas. In a live wave, jumping rarely helps a clear. It only moves the camera off a tile you were about to click.
Left Mouse Button does the real work. Click a unit on the bar, click a legal tile, then click the same unit later to spend cash on an upgrade. A failed click usually means the tile sits on the path, the unit already hit its placement cap, or the match cash counter is too low. Read the toast. Do not mash a second bind that does not exist.
There is no published key for rotate, sell, or speed-up. If a lobby claims a secret F-key, treat it as a client overlay or a script macro, not an official control. Official binds stay on this table until Origins Project posts a new one in Discord.
HUD buttons on the right
The right side of the screen holds the account buttons that new players miss.
The orange Codes button unlocks at Level 10. It is how you paste GAMESPEED, TYKaito!, THANKYOU!, Origins, AO, and Release!. The click path and the errors that look like a dead code live on How to Redeem Codes. You cannot redeem from this wiki, from Discord chat, or from a YouTube description box.
The Areas button opens hub destinations. Trait Reroll is the one you will use after codes. Pick it, walk to the NPC, then spend Trait Rerolls on a keeper. That is the entire keyboard-to-NPC chain. Do not stand in the lobby tapping WASD hoping a reroll menu appears under your feet.
Summon banners, inventory, and mode select sit in the same hub chrome. They are clicks, not extra keybinds. If a menu will not open, you are in a match, not in the hub, or another player’s UI is covering the button in a 22-player public lobby. Open a private server if you need the HUD to stay readable.
Mobile, tablet, and console
The experience runs on mobile, tablet, PC, and console. The actions stay the same. The inputs change shape.
On mobile and tablet, a virtual stick replaces WASD. A jump control replaces Space. Taps replace Left Mouse Button for select and place. The Codes and Areas buttons still sit on the right once you have the level. Fat-finger a tile next to the path and the client will refuse the place the same way a PC click does.
On console, the left stick walks, the face button that the Roblox client maps to jump handles Space, and the confirm button places or selects. If your controller overlay hides the orange Codes button, switch to a quieter private server or a smaller party so the HUD is not buried under nameplates.
Cross-play does not change binds. A friend on phone and a friend on PC still press the same logical actions. They do not share Gems, Trait Rerolls, or Stat Prisms. Controls are local. Currencies are per account.
Common “broken controls” mistakes
Players report “I cannot place” when the real issue is cash, a placement limit of 1 on Immortal, or a tile that sits on the enemy path. Players report “Codes will not open” when they are still under Level 10. Players report “Trait Reroll is missing” when they never opened Areas. Walk the table above before you assume the client ate a keybind.
If you are learning the game this week, place one farm unit and one carry, then stop clicking empty tiles. Extra placements starve upgrades. The Story Mode page covers when to stop pushing. This page only exists so you stop hunting a bind that was never shipped.
Once WASD, Space, and Left Mouse Button feel automatic, ignore this sheet and go back to spending decisions. Controls do not win Infinite Mode. Income and traits do.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are the Anime Origins keyboard controls?
WASD moves, Space jumps, and Left Mouse Button selects or places a unit. Origins Project has not published extra combat hotkeys.
Where is the Codes button?
On the right side of the HUD after Level 10. It stays locked before that. See [How to Redeem Codes](/codes/how-to-redeem/).
How do I open Trait Reroll?
Use the Areas button on the right, pick Trait Reroll, walk to the NPC, then follow [How to Reroll Traits](/guides/how-to-reroll-traits/).
Do mobile and console use different actions?
No. The same three actions exist. Sticks and taps replace WASD, Space, and mouse. Codes and Areas still sit on the right.
Why will my unit not place?
The tile is illegal, the unit hit a placement cap, or you lack match cash. That is not a missing keybind.
